Yorkshire Students Make Their Mark with Enterprise Success
Pupils from St.Catherine’s Primary School and Birkdale School in Sheffield have impressed some of the UK’s leading business brains to be crowned winners of Make Your Mark with a Tenner 2010.
This year’s campaign involved a record number of participants, with more than 3,000 students taking part across the region, making their mark in the national campaign that gives participants £10 and one month to turn their creative and enterprising ideas into businesses that make money and make a difference.
Students from the region demonstrated their skills and passion for business. Natasha Afford, a 13 year old student from Titus Salt School in Shipley, launched her very own Cup Cake Enterprise, The Cup Cake Foundation. A group of ten engineering students, studying for their NVQ Level 1 in Welding at Goole College, used their metalwork skills to create garden figurines, wall baskets and bird feeders.
