26 Feb 2010 - Secondary Head Teacher Conference
A one-day conference for Secondary Headteachers and College Principals which YPEF Services Ltd is coordinating, supported by YPEF, the 14-19 Challenge, Government Office Yorkshire & Humber and the SSAT, and funded by Yorkshire Forward through the ‘Embedding Enterprise in Education' programme. The conference will take place on Friday 26th February 2010 at Saviles, Royal Armouries, Leeds.
Headteachers and Principals from Yorkshire and Humber will share ideas and think ahead to 2013 when 17 year olds will be required to stay in education and training. What are they already doing to keep young people engaged at 17? What could they learn from other Heads and Principals? How can employers inspire young people? How much do teaching staff know about options beyond school - apprenticeships, for example? How should we implement new guidance on impartial information, advice and guidance? What role can employers play to ensure we are developing the enterprising skills they need? How can we more effectively engage young people by giving education a real world context?
An outline programme is attached: Towards total engagement - conference programme.pdf
To book, please email as soon as possible to or phone the Young People's Enterprise Forum on 0113 394 4983.
The conference has been timed to follow ‘The Big Conversation', taking place on 12th February in Leeds, which brings together young people and employers to debate how work experience could be improved in the region. The Big Conversation is being organised by Business in the Community, the Regional EBP Alliance and the 14-19 Challenge.
