Financially Preparing Young People for the Future

YPEF, Business in the Community and NYBEP invite teachers to a Business Breakfast and Workshop: ‘FINANCIALLY PREPARING YOUNG PEOPLE FOR THE FUTURE’. With the current economic pressures, there has never been a better time to ensure young people have the attitudes and skills to move into adulthood with confidence in their ability to deal effectively with the range of financial decisions they will have to make.

Date: Monday 16th November 2009
Time: 8am - 10.30am
Event: The International Enterprise Promotion Conference
Venue: Harrogate International Conference Centre

In a move to prepare young people for the future, basic finance education is set to become compulsory in our children's education from primary through to secondary. This Government move aims to achieve the following:

1.  Help young people explore attitudes to money and financial services and learn to take responsibility for financial decisions
2.  Develop skills to think ahead about financial needs and to plan and budget
3.  Increase knowledge, awareness and understanding of financial services and products so they can make informed choices.

With the current economic pressures, there has never been a better time to ensure young people have the attitudes and skills to move into adulthood with confidence in their ability to deal effectively with the range of financial decisions they will have to make.

Employers play a vital role in bringing education alive for young people, by giving it a real world context. To find out more about working with employers, join us on 16th November for a networking breakfast at 8am, followed by the workshop commencing at 9am. You will leave the event having heard from both a primary and secondary school with examples of how they work with employers, as well as a commitment to partner you with a local business that can support your school.

This event forms part of the 1st International Enterprise Promotion Convention, taking place at the Harrogate International Conference Centre from 15-17 November 2009.  Over 800 people from countries around the world will attend the event, opened by Lord Mandelson. You are encouraged to stay for the full day and join other workshops taking place as part of the main conference including: Entrepreneurship Education Policy & Practice; Community, Ethnic Minority, Rural and Social Enterprises; Youth Enterprise Support Programmes world-wide and E-business, E-learning, E-mailing and Website Marketing.
