A competition for young people living in Hull, running from 9th July to 22nd October 2010, open to young people aged 19 and under with an enterprising idea such as a new business, a co-operative, community enterprise project or an enterprising project in school, youth club or college. There are three age ranges: 16 and under, 16 to 18 and 19 and you can enter as an individual or group.

Hull Ready is a key element of the Embedding Enterprise in Education in Yorkshire & Humber programme, funded by Yorkshire Forward and managed by YPEF Services Ltd. The programme is based on the highly successful Rotherham Ready primary enterprise project which is recognised as best practice nationally.

The Enterprise and Industry Directorate-General of the European Commission has published a further call for proposals regarding the "Erasmus for Young Entrepreneurs" programme. The overal objective is to facilitate and assist more new entrepreneurs to gain experience in an established entrepreneur's company in another EU member state. The deadline for submission of proposals is 28 June 2010.

At Hull's Spotlight Awards held to celebrate the success of Hull's young people and those that work with them - the title of Hull's Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2010 went to student Dave Garbera from a strong shortlist of three that included Gerard Jones whose business is based at the Enterprise Centre at the University of Hull and Curtis Noble a young man from Hymers College who has undertaken a range of young enterprise activities whilst still at Hymers.
