BITC LAUNCHES NEW REGIONAL WORK INSPIRATION AWARD - Calling all employers providing inspirational work experience programmes

Business in The Community (BiTC)
has launched a new regional award, alongside the 2010 Awards for Excellence. Single or multiple entries are welcome from businesses of all sizes, SMEs and across all sectors whose work experience programme for young people gives them an inspiring first experience of the world of work.

The focus of this award category is on young people in education aged between 14 and 19, where employers are offering a work experience placement opportunity to support the young person in their transition into the world of work.

The placement could be a day, three days or longer in duration and the aim is to build the young person's understanding of the world of work, raise their awareness of the relevant skills necessary and develop their aspirations.

To submit an application please visit: www.bitc.org.uk/awards.

Submissions are likely to focus on one or more of these approaches:

• Work experience programmes already being delivered that are making a difference

• Innovative new developments in work experience

• Strategically developed programmes to address issues such as future skills gaps

• Community focused work experience for example focusing on disadvantaged young people

The awards are free to enter and open to all BITC members and other employers with a presence in the UK. Judges will select the best submissions in each English region, in Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and these will be recognised equally as examples of best practice.

The closing date is 31 March 2010. To download the application form visit www.bitc.org.uk/awards.
