GEW 2010: Global Event Gets Yorkshire Backing
Nov 11, 2010
Thousands of people across Yorkshire are gearing up for a worldwide campaign which takes place next week – over 150 local events have been organised in the region to celebrate Global Entrepreneurship Week, a worldwide movement of entrepreneurial people.
Since its inception three years ago, Global Entrepreneurship Week has seen millions of attendees at hundreds of thousands of events in almost 100 countries - the scale and quality of the week has attracted the support of Presidents and Prime Ministers in 16 countries.
In Yorkshire, organisations and groups are setting up independent activities and more than 150 separate events will take place in towns and cities between 15-21 November.
Jane Walton, Policy Director at the Young People's Enterprise Forum which is supporting the event in this region, said: "Like the rest of the country, our region has had a tough and testing year - not least with the recent spending cuts announcement - but entrepreneurship never seems to falter, a fact backed up by the level of activity in this area for Global Entrepreneurship Week.
"At last count we had over 150 individual events registered on the website which will involve thousands of people.
